How Addplant Helped Bring DIY SOS Beverley’s Big Build to Life

DIY sos

In May, Beverley saw something truly special happen. The team from DIY SOS: The Big Build, the BBC’s much-loved renovation series, arrived in town – and they weren’t alone. What followed was a heartwarming show of community spirit, with hundreds of volunteers, tradespeople, companies, and suppliers all coming together to build a new community centre for local young people.

And we at Addplant were proud to play our part.

The original youth centre had closed down many years ago, leaving a gap in the community for young people who desperately needed a safe space to grow, learn, and thrive. So, when DIY SOS decided to bring the Big Build to Beverley, the entire town came together in force. From donated materials and manpower to meals and plants, the response was overwhelming and genuinely inspiring.

First on Site, Last to Leave

At Addplant, we know that every great build starts with the right setup. Before a single trench was dug or brick was laid, we were on-site providing the essentials to get the project moving. With no services on the field at the start, our welfare units were vital for ensuring health and safety standards were met during the early stages, especially on trades briefing day.

But we didn’t stop there. Throughout the build, we supplied:

  • Welfare units
  • Portable toilets (cleaned daily, of course!)
  • Site cabins
  • Fencing
  • Digger hire

We were proud to be the first ones on site and the last ones out. After all, everyone needs the conveniences in life – especially during a full-scale community build on an empty field.

A Buzzing Build Full of Heart

The Beverley Big Build didn’t just bring bricks and mortar together. It brought people together too. The buzz around town was electric, with coverage from the BBC and excitement growing by the day. And yes, if you look closely at some of the press shots, you’ll spot our toilets in the background. Glamorous? Maybe not. Essential? Absolutely.
